How did we find the Bouvier des Flandres breed?

In 2002 we were watching the Eukanuba Tournament dog show. While listening to the narrator speak of each bread. We fell in love with the Bouvier des Flandres. We researched the breed on the internet and decided this is the breed for us.

Our next step, we researched breeders on the internet. We also found a very helpful site that listed things you should ask breeders. There were breeders that were very helpful and did not mind the questions. As a potential buyer and family for their puppies, often good breeders will ask many questions of you as they are looking for loving and safe homes for their puppies.

Much information can be found at the American Kennel Club web site, American Bouvier des Flandres Club web site, and Southern California Bouvier des Flandres Club web sites. Please visit our Resource page for additional links to helpful information.

After deciding on a breeder and waiting for our new puppy we decided to call local dog grooming salons to see if they had any Bouvier clients. One local grooming salon had three Bouv’s and called us so we could come into see them. We were so amazed at the gentleness, confidence, patience, and the warmth we seen in their eyes. It made us more eager for our new puppy.

Ch Sir Winston Jones (Winston) was born March 11 th, 2003 in Indiana. Looking like a bouncing baby bear cub, we brought our new family member home at 8 weeks. Of course we went crazy, a monogrammed bed, new kennels, new leashes, collars, food/water bowls, toys, you name it, he had it.

At the age of six months, we went to the Bouvier des Flandres 2003 Specialty in Eureka , MO. There they had many Bouv’s in every color. It was amazing. We met some very nice people. Many suggested we show Winston in the AKC conformation dog shows as they thought he had a perfect coat, eyes, structure, bite, and temperament.

After the specialty and the suggestion of many new friends, we decided we would try our hand at dog showing. As of 2006 he has obtained his titles for his AKC championship, CGC (good canine citizen), TDI (therapy dog) and now off to herding.

As a family member, a bouvier can fill your life with fun, laughter, and unconditional love.
Once again, welcome to
